Background
Founded in 1866, the Einstein Healthcare Network consists of three hospitals and MossRehab, as well as multiple outpatient centers and primary care locations throughout the Philadelphia region.
Challenge
Einstein was seeking to replace its aging Montgomery Hospital Medical Center, located in the downtown Norristown with no expansion capability.
Solution
Serving as project manager, Hammes led an extensive site selection process for the replacement hospital, resulting in the selection of an 87-acre site in a well-established suburban community with easy access from the highway.
Hammes also provided full project management services, preparing the comprehensive project budget and schedule, and assisting in the selection of the project team, including the architect, general contractor, medical equipment planner and all additional vendors.
Hammes helped Albert Einstein secure approval for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Hospital Mortgage Insurance Program and created and implemented an invoicing process to expedite HUD’s review protocols.
The new Einstein Medical Center Montgomery includes 146 patient beds and is readily expandable to 170 beds. In addition, the building infrastructure was designed to support a planned expansion of the ED and surgical suite, as well as a 36-bed patient tower expansion. The hospital was designed and developed to LEED Silver standards.
