Over the course of an 18-year partnership, Hammes served as Aurora Health Care's program manager as it executed what would be the nation's largest single-system ambulatory network expansion. Hammes delivered more than 5 million GSF and $1 billion in projects throughout the eastern half of Wisconsin including:
- 6 hew hospitals totaling 1,854,000 GSF
- 4 hospital additions totaling 604,000 GSF
- 125 medical office buildings and outpatient centers totaling 2,800,000 GSF
Key to executing Aurora's ambitious expansion strategy was a prototype model developed by Hammes that would allow consistently branded, scalable facilities to be delivered in a timely and efficient manner. Hammes also provided financing and ownership for a significant portion of Aurora’s portfolio of properties.
Today, Aurora has facilities located in 90 communities across 30 counties and serves more than 1.2 million unique patients each year. The system encompasses 15 hospitals and 150 clinics with 1,800 employed physicians.
