Milwaukee, WI, August 13, 2019 – Hammes Company, the nation’s leading healthcare developer as ranked by Modern Healthcare’s Construction and Design Survey, has broken ground on a new medical office building in the area of Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Scheduled to open in late 2020, the new 70,000-square-foot, three-story medical office building in the town of Okatie will expand services in the surrounding area and supplement Beaufort Memorial’s existing acute care regional hospital. The new facility will provide primary care, OB-GYN, orthopedics, urgent care, cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, vascular and general surgery, a breast health center, outpatient rehabilitation, laboratory and imaging services, and a full-service cancer center.
Together with its affiliates, Hammes is the developer of the project and will provide comprehensive project management, while also retaining ownership of the facility.
“This project showcases Hammes’ unique mix of national healthcare facility development and project management experience, financial strength, and local market knowledge,” said Hammes Company Senior Vice President Deirdre Lott, who is based in South Carolina. “We’re delighted to have the opportunity to bring multiple Hammes business lines together to help Beaufort Memorial complete this significant and transformative project.”
“We’re excited to see the new facility come to life as we seek to expand access to critical medical services and improve the health of patients in southern Beaufort and Jasper counties,” said Beaufort Memorial Hospital President & CEO Russell Baxley.
